Madrigal Dinner Updates
Students, Parents, Guardians, and Community,
One last change about Madrigal Dinner rehearsals and dates - due to below expected ticket sales, we need to consolidate down to one night instead of three. Originally, we were going to present three dinners on three separate nights, but the ticket sales were not large enough to make this sustainable.
After speaking with our main performers (6th period), our caterer, and our event space contact, I've come to the decision that we need to consolidate our performance down to one night. I know this dinner has had it's ups and downs, confusion with the musical, etc, but hopefully those are just growing pains that we will not experience next year.
Much was done to publicize this event - flyers were posted around the school, in teacher's mailboxes, emails were sent home to parents, etc, but I think because not everyone knows what a Madrigal Dinner is yet, they aren't sure if they should come or not. Hopefully with the promo video that we are shooting at the dinner this year, we'll have a better turn out next year.
If you have already purchased a ticket for Thursday or Friday night, I have made an attempt to call you to offer a transfer to Saturday night. If that is not possible, please know I will of course issue you a full refund.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, feel free to call me at school, on my cell phone, or email me. I will do my best to get back with you ASAP.
So on to the specifics. Below is the updated rehearsal schedule reflecting the changed dates.
NO REHEARSAL Monday-Wednesday. Madrigals will have regular after school rehearsal that week.
Thursday, December 15th - Rehearsal. 6th period students need to find their own way to St. John's since school lets out at 1:10, and rehearsal doesn't start until 5:30 PM. Students are to be picked up by parents at 9:00 PM. 1st and 2nd period students no longer need to come this night.
Friday, December 16th - Rehearsal. 1st, 2nd, and 6th period students need to find their own way to St. John's since school lets out at 1:10, and rehearsal doesn't start until 5:30 PM. Students are to be picked up by parents at 9:00 PM. All students need to come to this night, since it will be our only chance to run the dinner all the way through before the audience comes Saturday night.
Saturday, December 17th - Our first ever Madrigal Dinner! 1st, 2nd, and 6th period students need to find their own way to St. John's since school is not in session that day. Students are to be dropped off at 5:30. The dinner happens between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM, and students are picked up by parents at 9:30 to allow time for tear down and clean up. Madrigal may need to stay a little later depending on how efficient clean up by 1st and 2nd period was.
Attendance will be taken all three days, and this will count as a major concert grade. The only students that are excused at those participating in Rock of Ages and those that have already spoken to me about conflicts on an individual basis.
One last reminder - Eligibility is determined December 8th. Everyone needs to be passing their classes by this date!
Thank you all for supporting your students and their musical experience. It means the world to me and to them that you are there for them and support the arts and what they do.
